Ruckus R500 Mid-Range 802.11ac Wifi Access Point, 901-R500-US00
Ruckus WirelessEditor's Note
The R500 is perfect for smaller venues that want the speed of 802.11ac but do not need the additional benefits of the higher end access points like the R600/R700, like 3x3:3 MIMO. The R500 and all Ruckus access points for that matter, are unique in the fact that they bring intelligence to the AP. By this I mean that Ruckus focuses not only on control/management software but on innovating how wifi works by making the access points smarter.
There are a couple of things that make these APs smarter but from an AP perspective BeamFlex is the main attraction. BeamFlex is comprised of an antenna array and firmware that allow the access point to dynamically focus wifi signal to the clients that are connecting to it creating a stronger signal allowing for greater coverage and better connectivity. You can find out more about BeamFlex here.
The other thing we like about the R500 is that it can operate on its own or with a Ruckus ZoneDirector wifi controller giving you the flexibility to choose your deployment. The best part is that no firmware changes need to happen if changing between the two modes so you can pick and choose on the fly!
