The Motorola Canopy 5.7 GHz Advantage Starter kit comes with everything you need to get you on your way to creating a Wireless ISP (WISP), wireless video surveillance or Muni Mesh backbone. The 5.7 GHz Canopy Starter kit comes with the following components.
Now offering 7 Mbps and growing up to 14 Mbps throughput in point-to-multipoint distribution networks at 5 - 7 msec of latency, the Canopy Advantage platform provides unprecedented broadband wireless service at performance levels associated with cable and fiber technologies. Network Operators can also provide Committed Information Rate (CIR) and Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) enhanced services with Canopy Advantage Access Point (AP).
With higher throughput APs comes the need for higher throughput wireless backhauls and offering up to 300 Mbps aggregate throughput the Motorola Canopy PTP 400 and Canopy PTP 600 are the perfect match.
With all that being said we have complied a short list of recommended reading prior deploying the Motorola Wireless Broadband Access System. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Canopy Performance in Broadband Wireless Access Systems
Wireless Bandwidth vs Throughput
Features of the Motorola Canopy Advantage:
Enhanced Performance
- Increased Throughput - Canopy Advantage modules offer network operators a dramatic increase in throughput to an individual subscriber. With the Canopy Advantage Subscriber Module (SM), the Advantage AP can provide up to 14 Mbps throughput in point-to-multipoint sectors.
- Lower Latency - The Canopy Advantage AP offers reduced latency, which enables many enhanced broadband services. In most modules, the latency has been reduced from 20 msec to ~6 msec. This threefold reduction permits the Canopy system to support VoIP and on-line gaming.
- Committed Information Rate (CIR) Network operators can meet Service Level Agreements (SLA) and configure minimum throughput to all subscribers in the sector.
- The Software Defined Radio is not dependent on a specific chip set and is upgradeable to add new features. Network operators can extend the life of the system through software enhancements.
- Compatibility - Modules are compatible with all currently installed Canopy Subscriber Modules, Cluster Management Modules, and Bandwidth and Authentication Managers. No CPE equipment is obsoleted or needs to be serviced.
- Goal: Migration Path to Unlicensed WiMAX - Motorola is a member of the WiMAX Forum and intends to meet the interoperability requirements of WiMAX standards. It is a goal to provide a migration path to add unlicensed WiMAX capabilities to a sector without stranding Canopy CPE equipment.
